Szilvia Vörös
The Hungarian mezzo-soprano Szilvia Vörös joined the Wiener Staatsoper ensemble in 2018. She studied with Éva Marton at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest and has won a number of voice competitions. She made her international début in 2015 at the Budapest State Opera as Third Maid in »Elektra«. She subsequently developed a broad repertoire at the Budapest State Opera, with successful roles including Fenena (»Nabucco«), Suzuki (»Madama Butterfly«), Bersi (»Andrea Chénier«), Siébel (»Faust«), Romeo (»I Capuleti e i Montecchi«), Alisa (»Lucia di Lammermoor«), Waltraute (»Die Walküre«) and most recently Isabella (»L’italiana in Algeri«), and she also appeared in Peter Eötvos’ chamber opera »Out at S.E.A.« Other appearances include Milan and Paris. As a member of the Young Singers Project she sang Albine in »Thaïs« at the 2016 Salzburg Festival. Her concert repertoire includes works by J. S. Bach, Buxtehude, Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven, Bruckner, A. Pärt, and P. Eötvos. Roles at the Wiener Staatsoper include Fenena, Anna (»Les Troyens«), Julie (»Dantons Tod«), Hippolyta (»A Midsummer Night’s Dream«).
