Iron Curtain

For the twenty-seventh "Iron Curtain" at the Vienna State Opera, the jury (Daniel Birnbaum, Bice Curiger and Hans-Ulrich Obrist) selected the extraordinary Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist. Her work "Bauchhöhle überfliegt Staumauer" can be seen by the audience before and after the performances and during the intermissions from September 24, 2024 to the end of June 2025. The "Iron Curtain" is an exhibition series conceived by museum in progress (mip.at) and realised in cooperation with the Vienna State Opera, which has been transforming the Iron Curtain into an exhibition space for contemporary art since 1998.

The large pictures (176 m²) are fixed to the fire protection wall with magnets.

The "Iron Curtain" exhibition series is a project by museum in progress in cooperation with the Vienna State Opera and the Bundestheater-Holding. The "Iron Curtains" have been realised by several artists since 1998.
