Nominations and Award

We are delighted that once again this year the Vienna State Ballet has been nominated several times in the annual critics' poll of the renowned trade magazine TANZ: Mike Dixon (Dance Europe) chose the revival of Frederick Ashton's La Fille mal gardée as "Most Interesting Production" "with Sonia Dvořák, François-Eloi Lavignac and Géraud Wielick, who danced the role of his life as Colas". In the category "Dancer of the Year", Maya Künzler (SRF 2 Kultur) chose Hyo-Jung Kang ("intense, danced with youthful charm, technically brilliant") in the title role of Martin Schläpfer's Sleeping Beauty. Dorion Weickmann (tanz, Süddeutsche Zeitung) nominated Olga Esina ("long live the Queen!") in her role as the Queen also in Sleeping Beauty. In the "Online" category, the streaming service of the Vienna State Ballet did particularly well - according to Sylvia Staude (Frankfurter Rundschau): "The Vienna State Ballet streams [...] in impeccable quality." Congratulations are also due to our principal dancer Eno Peci, who was awarded the Premio Capri Danza in the category "alla carriera" in July for his artistic life's work.
