Nikisha Fogo promoted First Soloist
After the premiere of Manuel Legris' successful premiere of "Sylvia" at the Wiener Staatsoper Nikisha Fogo was promoted First Solist.
Nikisha Fogo, First Soloist of the Wiener Staatsballetts
Born in Stockholm (Sweden). She was educated at the Kungliga Svenska Balettskolan and at the Royal Ballet School in London. In 2013 she joined the Wiener Staatsballett. 2015 she was promoted Demi Soloist. 2016 she was announced Soloist, 2018 she was promoted First Soloist.
Her repertory comprises Kitris Freundin and Amor in Rudolf Nureyev’s "Don Quixote", Gefährtin des Prinzen, Kleiner Schwan and Ungarischer Tanz (soloist) in Nureyev’s „Schwanensee“, Solo-Schneeflocke in Nureyev’s „Der Nussknacker“, Clémence in Nureyev’s „Raymonda“, Olga in John Cranko’s „Onegin“, Freundin in Frederick Ashton’s "La Fille mal gardée", Odaliske in Manuel Legris´ "Le Corsaire", Zigeunerin in Michael Corder’s "Die Schneekönigin", Schatten der Marie Antoinette in Patrick de Bana’s „Marie Antoinette“, Ein Bauernpaar in Elena Tschernischova’s „Giselle“, Die Frau in Grün and Anitra, Tochter eines Beduinen-Häuptlings, in Edward Clug’s „Peer Gynt“ George Balanchine’s Pas de deux „Tarantella“ and “Stars and Stripes” and main parts in Balanchine's „Allegro Brillante“ and „Thema und Variationen“ (solo couple), William Forsythe’s "The Second Detail", Alexander Ekman's „Cacti“, Patrick de Bana's „Creatures“, Jiří Bubeníček's „Le Souffle de l’esprit“, John Neumeier’s „Le Sacre“, „Verklungene Feste“ and „Bach Suite III“, Kenneth MacMillan’s „Concerto“ and Wayne McGregor’s „EDEN|EDEN“. She created roles in András Lukács’ „Movements to Stravinsky“ (2nd couple) and in Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s „Der Feuervogel“ (Putzfrau).
Awards and honours: 2010 she received the first prize at the Stora Daldansen competition in Falun (Sweden) and at the Ballet Competition in Grasse (France).
