»Kontrapunkte« at the Volksoper Wien

With Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's »Great Fugue« to music by Ludwig van Beethoven, the Vienna State Ballet is presenting a work by this important Belgian dance artist for the first time, which breathtakingly questions the laws of gravity. The ballet »Duets« by Merce Cunningham - the American visionary who once shook up the dance world with his experiments and has long been considered a classic - also brings a new color to the repertoire. Hans van Manen's »Four Schumann Pieces« are an elegant ballet in the clear language of movement and structures in space so typical of him, but they are also a ballet full of romance and melancholy.
