EXPERIENCE PRODUCTIONS OF THE VIENNA STATE OPERA IN SUMMER
Recordings of Vienna State Opera productions can also be experienced during the theater vacations:
Radio Ö1 will broadcast the December 2020 recording of Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier for the first time on June 26 (7:30 p.m.). Conducted by music director Philippe Jordan, the cast includes Martina Serafin (Marschallin), Günther Groissböck (Baron Ochs), Daniela Sindram (Octavian), Erin Morley (Sophie), Jochen Schmeckenbecher (Faninal) and Piotr Beczała (A singer).
On July 10 (7:30 p.m.), another Ö1 premiere will be broadcasted: Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, recorded in February 2021, also conducted by Philippe Jordan and featuring Andrè Schuen (Count Almaviva), Federica Lombardi (Countess Almaviva), Louise Alder (Susanne), Philippe Sly (Figaro) and Virginie Verrez (Cherubino).
At the Film Festival at Vienna's Rathausplatz, the Vienna State Opera will be represented with three works:
On July 7 with La traviata under Giacomo Sagripanti and featuring Pretty Yende, Juan Diego Flórez and Igor Golovatenko (recording of the premiere on March 7, 2021), on August 1 with the ballet evening Mahler, live with the world premiere of Martin Schläpfer's 4 (recording of the premiere on December 4, 2020) and on August 3 with Carmen conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada and with Anita Rachvelishvili, Piotr Beczala, Erwin Schrott and Vera-Lotte Boecker (recording of the premiere on February 21, 2021).
The Siemens Kinder>Festival at Kapitelplatz Salzburg features several children's opera productions: Cinderella - Viennese Version for Children on August 20, Was ist los bei den Enakos? on August 21, Das Städtchen Drumherum on August 22, Persinette on August 28, and Pollicino on August 29.
