Jugendkompanie
The Jugendkompanie of Vienna State Opera offers per season 12 dancers between the ages of 17 and 21 the opportunity to prepare for the professional life of a dancer.
The goal of the Ballettakademie’s direction is to provide the opportunities for artistic and technical development for the young dancers in a safe environment, to create a successful transition into a professional ballet company.
In addition to classical, contemporary, repertory training and one-on-one coaching, the focus of the training contract is on preparing for future auditions and gaining stage experience through participation in productions of the Wiener Staatsballett, Vienna State Opera and Volksoper Wien. Furthermore, the Jugendkompanie participates in their own performances und the matinee of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera.
This advanced training contract is limited to two years.
The graduating class of the Ballet Academy is invited to audition for the Jugendkompanie, as well as existing members of the Jugendkompanie if they wish to extend their contract for a further year. Since 2022, external dancers can also apply for a contract.
Information about the audition for the Jugendkompanie 2025/26 will be available in January 2025.
