The Japanese countertenor DAICHI FUJUKI has won several prizes at international singing competitions (e.g. Belvedere competition 2012). He studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music as well as at the opera studio of the New National Theatre Tokyo and at the Reale Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna as well as cultural management at the University of Music in Vienna. He made his professional opera debut as tenor as Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro) at the New National Theatre Tokyo in the season 2003/2004. One year later he debuted at the Melbourne International Arts Festival. He made his debut as countertenor at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna as Mannio (Il trionfo di Clelia) and as Carmelo Patane (Divorzio all’italiana). Shortly afterwards he performed Edgat in Aribert Reimann´s Lear in Tokyo. His repertoire includes parts such as Trinculo in Adès‘ The Tempest, Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Herold in Aribert Reimann´s Medea. Furthermore, several contemporary operas have already been composed for him. Daichi Fujiki is also a concert singer (e.g. in Bach´s Matthäus Passion, Händel´s Messias, Fauré´s Requiem). As of season 2016/2017, he will be member of the ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper.
